Finished dosage form refers to pharmaceutical drug products in the form in which they are marketed for use (e.g. tablets, capsules, solutions). Active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) / bulk drug substance is any component that is intended to furnish pharmacological activity or other direct effect in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease, or to affect the structure of any function of the body of man or other animals.
